Theo Elfers

Hi, my name is Theo Elfers and I am a doctoral student under the supervision of Drs. Iarocci and Carpendale in the Developmental/Clinical Psychology program at SFU. I finished my Master's equivalent in Clinical and Developmental Psychology at Humboldt University in Berlin, Germany. My thesis concentrated on identity development and motivation in young adolescents in Germany and this work was supervised by Dr. Tobias Krettenauer. Currently, I am interested the development of identity (that is, how individuals see themselves and their future) and social cognition in teens and adults with ASD. I am a student research fellow with the Autism Research Training Program (ART) and my dissertation studies are funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) as well as the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research (MSFHR).

I am most excited to have started data collection for my dissertation project titled: How young people view themselves and their future". Essentially, this project looks at teens and young adults' views of themselves and their future and how this relates to their overall well-being including their mood and social relationships.

Many thanks to all the families who have already signed up and filled out the online surveys!
